Blueberry picking season is upon us! Blueberries are our most beloved crop and the heart of Lively Grove Farms. We grow multiple varieties of blueberries, and each one tastes sweet and is grown with organic methods. Come out to our organic farm for u-pick blueberries this season!

Climax:
The Climax blueberry is a popular, early-season variety known for its large, sweet, and firm dark blue berries. These beauties thrive in Southeastern North Carolina, ripening from late Spring to early Summer. With a flavor profile that is sweet and a texture that is firm and crunchy, these blueberries are perfect for fresh eating, baking, preserves, and freezing. Our visitors love berry picking this early-season favorite.
Premier:
Premier Blueberries are an early-season variety, popular for their large, firm, and sweet berries. This berry grows on heat-tolerant bushes and is popular in the Southeast US. With firm, sweet berries, this variety is perfect for eating, baking, and freezing. These are a local favorite during blueberry picking season.
Tiffblue:
The Tiffblue blueberry is a premier berry known for its firm, light-blue berries and exceptional adaptability to Southeastern heat. This type of blueberry produces sweet, tangy fruit from mid-June to July, making it a summertime favorite. With medium-sized berries that are tangy and sweet, this blueberry variety is perfect for fresh eating, baking, and freezing.
Powder Blue:
The Powder Blue variety is a late-season blueberry known for producing medium-to-large, sweet, light-blue berries with a powdery, waxy coating. This robust berry thrives in the Southeastern US and is best when picked late in the season (late June through early July). With a flavor profile that is sweet and a texture that is firm, these berries are excellent for fresh eating or jams. Come out to our family farm and pick your own blueberries this season!
Onslow:
Onslow Blueberries were released by North Carolina State University in 2001 as an ideal berry for Southeastern North Carolina. This variety produces large, sweet, aromatic, bright blue berries that ripen from mid-June to August. This blueberry has a very good firmness with a sweet flavor, making it ideal for fresh eating, baking, and preserves.
Brightwell:
The Brightwell blueberry is an early-season variety known for its sweet, firm, medium-to-large berries. This blueberry is best when picked early to mid-season (May to early June) and is an ideal choice for fresh eating and baking.
Legacy:
The Legacy Blueberry is a highly regarded Northern Highbush variety known for its exceptional, sweet flavor. It is a late to midseason (June to July) blueberry that is perfect for fresh eating, jams, and freezing.
Robeson:
The Robeson blueberry is a rabbiteye cultivar released by North Carolina State University in 2005. Known for being an early ripener with a very sweet flavor, this blueberry is a local favorite for u-pick blueberries.
New Hanover:
This blueberry is a Southern Highbush cultivar (released 2007) known for producing large, firm, and flavorful berries. This variety produces large to very large berries with an excellent shelf life, making them ideal for fresh eating.
Misty:
The Misty Blueberry is an early-ripening (June to July) Southern Highbush variety known for its exceptional, sweet-spicy flavor. Highly praised for having a consistent, “out of this world” sweet flavor, this blueberry is perfect for snacking, salads, and fresh fruit trays.
Titan:
This blueberry really lives up to its name. Developed by the University of Georgia, these berries often reach the size of a quarter! Best in late Spring to early Summer, this variety is famous for producing exceptionally large, sweet, and firm berries. These blueberries are very large, firm, flavorful, and perfect for eating fresh, snacking, or baking. Come out to our blueberry farm in Brunswick County to check these out for yourself.
Krewer:
The Krewer blueberry was released by the University of Georgia in 2014 and is known for producing very large, sweet fruit. It is highly prized as a premium fresh eating and snacking berry. Renowned for having perhaps the best flavor among all the rabbiteye varieties, this berry is very sweet with a nice flavor balance.
